Listen to “Albert Schweitzer by Joseph Gollomb [Author] (A Biography) / ‘Walden’ by Thoreau [Author] (A Diary)” by Morris Schreiber from the 1964 Folkways album “Decision for Youth.” American author Henry David Thoreau published Walden on this day in 1854. The book depicts Thoreau’s experiences living alone for 2 years in a woodland cabin, in order to fulfill an existence free from the extravagancies of modern life.
