Listen to “Alala D’as Rias Baixas - Galicia” by Virgilio Fernandez & D. Gonzalez from the 1951 Folkways album “Music of Spain.”  Today is the National Day of Galicia, celebrated by the inhabitants of this autonomous community in northwestern Spain.  Because Galicia was once populated by an ancient Celtic people called the Gallaeci, Galician music today bears similarities to Celtic music in Ireland & Northern France.
